7.5 Habits

Ok --what's easiest for me??
Taking responsibility for my own learning! Hands down. I am always reading, always seeking, always curious, always striving. This is easy for me.

Problems as obstacles would be the hardest --because I find it hard to stop to learn a new way or the correct way or the best way. I tend to look for a workaround or asking for help instead of taking the time to do a painstaking learning. I tend to be "Hurry up -show me fast". I want to be more methodical.

Thats it ...

PBWiki Post

you ask how we can use this at OCL??

OMG OMG --Let me count the ways!

We can use this in lieu of OceanNet for many many things

We could create collaborative booklists --the heck with emailing back and forth!

We could draft policies and procedures with multiple people contributing

on and on and on!

Lets go!

The Last Post...my thoughts

Well...this was fun! An excellent opportunity! I used almost all of these web 2.0 tools already, but I gained more understanding because I read all the explanatory material, followed links, and watch vids!

Congratulations to All!

I only had trouble completing 2 items

google docs....which I use all the time, but couldn't get into to add to the oclwebchallenge doc

sandbox because I didn't have the invite key!!!

Listen NJ

Hey --I'm a long time user of this! Got my MP3 going to the gym everyday!

How do you think I keep up with teen books - huh?

I really should teach a class.....

OK.....I even taught it to a friend!

Podcasts - All Sings Considered on NPR

http://odeo.com/audio/14935753/view

This is the podcast I picked

Can ROCK save the world?

Maybe not ROCK - but I do think ART saves the world everyday!!!

YouTube

Hey Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2c_yCqr5Bw

Teens are on YouTube unbelieveable!

This was made by one of my filmfest winners Mike M from TR HS North....

Did it for class --it was an assignment about Jamestown Settlement!

This is learning too!

Web 2. 0 Awards

Hey I love Revolution Health --it was an award winner!!

http://www.revolutionhealth.com/

Wow...I just found a great way to target really great websites on a huge variety of topics!

Just go to the award winners! We should be teaching this in our lab --what a fun class!

YES....Sadly we could become extinct!

This was GREAT reading!

And it really makes me think of how fragile our future is!

Libraries have stiff competition and it just may be in these tough economic times that libraries won't have such good times in the past - in terms of use!

Our customers have other choices.....

We must be ready to adapt...

technorati web learning 2.0

Here was a post I read http://www.technorati.com/posts/vAL1ZpfAylHbjrI4HNaGNJEVTNCZOwhvxL7xt3XsOdI%3D

hey --I learned something new and I LOVE this feature - "Favorite It" --so neat - just a clic and it's added to your favorites! WAHOO!

Delicious......

Delicious is such fun!

Boy can libraries sure utilize this one!

I like the Stafford Branches use of delicious for the summer reading list...I am just skeptical about the links only going to one record in horizon when so often there are multiple records for books!

Lovin it...

NetLibrary

Hey I've been a long time user of NetLibrary too.

I often would demo this resource in schools and in the library so I'm familiar with it.

it's great for teens to have online access to some of those classics!

I think that what is great is to be able to search the entire text by keyword --how neat is that!

Library Things --check me out!

Here is my link! http://www.librarything.com/catalog/themacattack

Library Thing is a HOOT!

Would love to try this as a summer reading program for teens!

Post about Technology.....twitter

Recently my son-in-law was in China when the earthquake happened. I was up very early and heard about it & I didn't want my daughter to wake up and get scared. So I researched on the web exactly what happened. Thats when I really saw the value of "twitter". People in China close to the scene were sending twitter posts about what was going on as it was happening!!!! This was incredible to know details about China's earthquake INSTANTLY!

Ok...What else do I have to say about the use of technology to Connect People and Build Community.

I see enormous opportunities for libraries and that is to serve those that are homebound such a disabled or those that are homebound due to transportation issues (due to our counties poor transportation system)

Bloglines - I'm Here, I'm Queer. What the Hell Do I Read!

Check this blog out! http://www.leewind.org/

Great for reading about new gay teen lit!

RSS and me!

I've had a bloglines for about 2 years now so this was nothing new!

2nd Try Teen Zone @ OCL Library

Hey webchallenge team --the flickr blogger thing is NOT working! I really tried! Here it is!

Teen Zone @ OCL Toms River

This is a fabulous space for teens in the library!

JoodietheFoodie - With Bow

I'm a RAVING Fan of....

Cooks Illustrated! It started with just the magazine and now I have subscribed ot the online version - $20 a year - how can you go wrong!

At Cooks they test and test every recipe until they have created the "perfect" recipe! Now as a perfectionist type librarian --I really love a perfect recipe.

Everything I have ever made turns out fabulous

One down side is they tend to be a bit complicated recipes --but definitely delicious!

I Love to Cook & I Love to Eat

Cooking is a hobby of mine that really started in earnest when I embarked on a healthier lifestyle. Basically that meant no fast food, no processed food and sticking to whole nutritious foods that I cook myself.
